My children and I have paint days. Whether on canvas, cardboard, paper, or whatever. I was able to purchase 8 cigar boxes for .25 cents each from a local thrift store. They were going to be thrown out.
Trying to figure out how to get the cigar paper off, my husband suggested that we prime the box with gesso. We did not have to tear paper off. Yayyyy! We put about 2-3 coats of gesso and let the boxes dry overnight.
…and, then we painted. We’re not done, yet. (Well, maybe my son is done). My baby girl and I have so much more to do to our boxes! We’re thinking of glueing jewels and other fun stuff!
