This is Seamwork’s Aires pattern! Yes! I subscribe to Seamwork Mag and when you do, you will receive 2 credits each month to purchase patterns from the mag! Cool, huh?! I’ve always been a fan of Colette patterns, so this was a no-brainer to subscribe to the mag!
My thought/plan for sizing and alterations: my waist is between XL and 2X, my hips will fit Large (full tummy, no hips or a$$). So, I will cut size XL and adjust hips to Large.
I used the overlock/serger for most of the construction.
Why I picked this pattern? Unlike traditional leggings, these have panels in which you can use contrasting fabrics like a mesh, or whatever. Even if you decide to use main fabric for all panels, it still gives an interesting look!
Well, I did not alter the hips to a large and just cut a straight size XL and they fit me perfectly!
I love them! (I’m holding the waist, because I need to purchase more elastic for the waistband 😜).
Happy Belated Birthday to me!
My birthday was in April.😏
My Mom’s friend (who knits and sews) was de-stashing her fabric and I was the happy recipient of 2 bins of fabric. My plan was to fly home (although I’ve lived in Florida for 15 years, Chicago is still ‘home’), anyway, I was going to pack and ship to myself…but, that did not happen. Mom wanted me to have something, so she picked a few to fit in a flat rate box and sent (what you see pictured). The orange squares/diamond print might be a challis; the yellow floral is flow-ey, maybe a challis?; purple/white floral is a knit; grey is a knit; the pink is a silk blend; and that lovely tropical print is a woven blend of sorts.
I’m happy! Thanks Mommi!
I am de-stashing sewing patterns and the first is this Set-In Sleeve Top and Sweater by Ann Persons.
Ann Persons started teaching how to sew knit fabrics with a method and technique she developed in the early 1960s. She started her famous lessons and gave the name of Stretch & Sew. She had her first patterns printed in 1967.(1)
I have been collecting her patterns and books for years; with a little help from my friends stumbling upon them and donating to me!
So, I have two of this pattern (uncut) and am giving away one! To Enter: all you have to do is follow me here on the blog, on instagram, and/or Twitter. List all of the places where you are following me and include your email in the comments. The more places you follow, increases your chances to win! I’m sorry to all of my friends abroad, this giveaway is limited to the US.
Deadline for entry is at midnight (EST), 31 December 2014! Winner will be announced at 4 p.m. (EST) 1 January 2015.
Have a Happy Sewing and Safe New Year!

Fabric used from my stash…was donated to me a looooonnnng time ago! It’s some sort of 2-way stretch knit!
This time width was increased to 36″ to accommodate my bust; I lengthened also. Eliminated the center back curve; and no French seams, just straight stitch and serged!
Planning to sew up another in a non-stretch fabric! (Hmmmm, I have lots of purple corduroy in my stash!)
…jersey knit red.
